The Honest Truth That Your
Security Company Does
NOT Want You To Know.

Typical Monitoring Fees:
Let us give you an example:  Mr. Smith wanted to add a smoke detector and a medical alert pendent to his existing home security system.  He calls the company that originally installed his system just a few months ago.  The company comes out and programs the smoke detector and medical pendent and installs them in Mr. Smiths home.  A small fee for doing this is understandable, since the company does have to make some sort of money for the service call.  But to charge Mr. Smith for the items many times is an outrage.
Let us explain:  Mr. Smith is billed for the inflated cost of the equipment.  Mr. Smith is also billed for the cost of the service call.  Mr. Smith also signs a work order that is an amendment to his original contract.  Typically this amendment will be for a 24 to 36 month agreement and the monthly monitoring fees will be greatly higher (going from say $35 to $45 or $49 a month).  Mr. Smith asks why the monitoring fees are higher, and the representative of the company tells Mr. Smith that monitoring smoke detectors and medical pendants cost more to monitor.  Mr. Smith signs the new contract and pays for the service call, and the added devices.

Increased Monitoring Fee's, because you added
a Smoke Detector or Medical Alert Pendent.
This is a False Claim by the Security Company.

1 device or 1000 devices = $20 a month monitoring with us.

There is no difference between monitoring a residential security, fire, or medical alert device.
Our customers only pay for the equipment being installed.  The service call is TYPICALLY COVERED under there monthly monitoring agreement, and we do not trick our customers into resigning a new contract or an amendment. We do not charge more money every month to monitor added or different types of devices.

Conclusion: Monitoring cost the same amount of money for Security, Fire, and Medical in residential systems. Commercial and Business systems will vary, but typically do not cost much more than the $20 a month monitoring fees that we charge for home owners.  Don't let your monitoring company try and tell you that your monitoring fees are going to increase because you added some devices. If your monthly monitoring fees are $20 a month with us, and you add a smoke detector, and a medical alert device to your system.  The costs for monitoring of these devices would still only be $20 dollars a month.

Contracts and Automatic Renewals:
We have not seen or heard of one single company that does not practice this Automatic Renewal besides are company.

You sign a contract with a security company, thinking that you got a great deal.  Typically in their contract you are bound to them for 24 to 36 months, with an automatic renewal for 1 full year every year.  This means that when your contract is over, typically 24 or 36 months, your contract will renew for 12 months and they have the right to raise your monthly fee.  There is typically no limit to the amount of the FEE increase, and the contract states that you are bound to the contract.  So if you decided to cancel your contract, they will be happy to cancel the contract but they will bill your bank account or credit card for the full year and you have no legal recourse because they have a contract that states you owe the money.  The only way to get out of a contract like this is to write or fax them a cancellation letter 30 or 60 days before your contract automatically renews.  You will have to read your contract to see there terms of service.  We have also heard of many cases where the company has received the cancellation notice, but makes up excuses that it wasn't done on time or in the proper procedure.  So make sure that you get a conformation of the cancellation before their 30 or 60 day window.

Conclusion:  Elite Monitoring is a new trend setter in this market.  We offer two contracts, month to month monitoring if you own your equipment.  If you do not own your own system, we can provide a Free system* with a 36 month contract.  This contract renews at the end of its term, but the renewal is month to month.  We are so confident that our customers will continue to stay with Elite Monitoring, we don't have to resort to trickery, and complicated contracts.  We also do not raise our monitoring fees just because you are under contract.  As a matter of fact, we have lowered are monthly fees for some of our customers.  We also offer a referral program for our customers.  Sign up a friend, family member or a neighbor and get a month of monitoring for Free.

Wireless Security Systems and Their Batteries:
The batteries to the right might not look like much, but they are in every single wireless device.  From door contacts to motion detectors, keyfobs to smoke detectors, and they can be very expensive to replace.  A typical motion detector or smoke detector will have 2 of these batteries inside of them and will typically last for 1-3 years.  Companies love to install wireless systems, because they know that they will get a service call from you.  This service call can be quite expensive.  You typically will get charged for the service call plus you will get charged for the batteries that they replace.

The fact is that these companies buy these batteries in bulk and get huge discounted prices on them, and turn around and charge you full price or more for the replacement of them.

Conclusion:  Elite Monitoring does not charge for battery replacement, this is all included in your monthly monitoring fees.  So if you need a battery replaced in the panel or in your devices, we will not charge you for the battery replacement.  It is not uncommon to hear of a company charging $100-$150 for a service call, just to replace your batteries.
